Blogging Virgin - 8/7/08

Hello Fambam and Friends! This is my very first BLOG! If it wasn't for my fatigued brain clicking around on "My Yahoo," I would never have known that I have blog on yahoo, however after typing this whole thing out there, I realized that it was just for yahoo users and I couldn't share with family and friends! So, I decided to create my own blog on blogger.com, associated with google.com. It's just after midnight so that makes the date August 7, 2008! Yesterday was Shmodie's birthday...Happy B-Day Tia muy Bonita!

Today was a typical day in my life. I woke up, started working.....yep, in my pj's!!!! I work from home, who cares!? I fought with my new, deffective printer for awhile before submitting my request for a refund. Since when do we have to "request" a refund? Ordering online has its perks, but definitely has its disadvantages too. The auto email said they would get back to me in 1 day. I don't want to bore you with the details, but I must....I had an EPSON all in one printer for the last few years (got it free with my first digital camera purchase. Well, the digital camera had to be taken in for service THREE times before Olympus finally replaced it with one that I never did think worked properly (I now have a Canon that I love, thanks to my Uncle Boo Boo). So, the ESPON printer was good to me considering I printed minimally....I hadn't used it for quite some time but now that I am working from home, the need is clearly there. I go to print and it doesn't work. I call customer support a few times trying to troubleshoot it. They finally recommend that I buy new ink. $70 later and my printer still doesn't work! Can't take the used ink back now!! I call to complain one last time and they offer me a very good deal on any printer of my choice, EPSON brand of course. So, I did some research and found one that I liked....it's an all in one and great for printing photos. I asked Neal to buy it for me since I dropped $70 on useless ink for the old one. He kindly gave me an allowance. :) So, I am thrilled to receive my new sleek printer, excited to eliminate the handi-cap and time wasted not being able to print work documents and having to go back and forth from screens to accomplish a project! So, I go to set it up yesterday following the step by step process when I get stuck at a very simple one. Install the ink cartridges and press "OK" for collaboration. Well, it kept giving me an error so I couldn't even go to the next step for crying out loud. It is one that has a little screen on the front and for that screen to display the results of the next step, that one has to be completed. Needless to say, I had it all installed correctly....I simply received a deffective printer - this is sooooo not a shock for me and my innate sense to buy deffective electronics. So, I write and call that I just want my money back..I have no faith in EPSON products since their printers can't recognize their own authentic ink...COME ON!!! They clearly don't want to give me my money back, so they are sending me a new one. These people are crazy! They don't even want me to send the deffective one back. Now I have two non-working printers in my office with a probable deffective one on its way. Ugh! I'll keep you posted on that status.....

Also, our air-conditioning went out today in the humid 100 degree weather. I called the apartment managers and they sent a maintenance guy up right away. He added some freon, and changed our filter. When I said "IJOLE" after seeing the VERY OLD filter, he asked if I spoke spanish (in spanish, of course). I said muy pequito (very little), then this very considerate and knowledgeable man asked where I was from. I said Whittier and laughed, as I assumed he meant what part of Mexico is my ancestry. He excitedly said he lived in Norwalk (close to Whittier) for many years....we talked for quite awhile as he held my old, dirty filter and looked at my pictures in the apartment. He said I look like my grandmother whom I have a black and white photo of when she was around my age. That brought me a smile as I miss her a great deal every day since May 30, 2001. My conversation with this man was the highlight of my day! Hey, give me a break....the most people interaction I get on a regular weekday is Instant Messages and emails from co-workers and an occasional phone call from someone trying to sell our company their product....and Oprah! So, I welcome the opportunity to just talk...as I'm sure Neal does too since he gets an earful after he gets home from work because I just need to talk to someone!! :) What can I say? I'm a people person, and working from home has definitely been an adjustment in that area. Our air is working now, but I still can't print. Oh well, first things first I guess.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my very first Blog.....I had a good time writing it. Good night!
