Olympics Begin! - 8/8/08

8/8/08....Today is a date that the Asians take very seriously for they believe it is a day of luck representing wealth and prosperity. So, a bunch of non-Asians got married today. Ha ha! That must be why they chose to open the 2008 Olympics today in Beijing. Good, the Asians are going to need all the luck they can get to have a chance to beat the USA!!! I am most excited, of course, to watch the "Redeem Team" beat all the other men's basketball teams after that disappointing bronze medal the USA earned in 2004. I have complete faith in this team, even though the Australians gave them a run for their money recently. I mean come on....they have Kobe Bryant - currently the best player in the world!! :) KKKOOOOOOBBBEEEEE!!!!!!!

He knows the challenge ahead, and who better than Kobe Bryant with the support of Lebron James to take that challenge and conquer?? USA all the WAY!!! Even the locals love them some Kobe. This excerpt was pulled from a yahoo news article:
"This was the oddity of the night. Behind the Chinese president and the entire national team, the one athlete who appeared to get the loudest ovation was none other than Kobe Bean Bryant. The moment was so odd that even U.S. journalists were looking at each other in puzzlement. The Russian, Chinese and American presidents were here, but Kobe was the head of state tonight."

That's what I'm talkin' about!! So, sport your red, white, and blue pride and make sure you know the words to our National Anthem....you will be hearing the instrumental version A LOT in the next 16 days!! Beijing did do a very impressive job with the opening ceremony - props to them on that!
